Greetings from Microsoft Technet Tour 2013!

Microsoft Technet Tour 2013 is on the road on this autumn in Finland! With topics such as Microsoft Cloud OS, Windows Server 2012 R2, System Center 2012 R2 and Hyper-V, Onrego is also attending the tour.

On last week’s Friday, Microsoft released R2 versions of Windows Server 2012 and System Center 2012. While most of the IT pros around world started to downloadthe bits, we packed our packs and headed to a tour around Finland to talk about the new features and possibilities Windows Server, Hyper-V, System Center and Windows Azure to hundreads of Finnish IT pros and business leaders.

Microsoft Technet Tour 2013

The tour stops at the following cities: Vaasa 10/22, Oulu 10/23, Lappeenranta 10/29, Kuopio 10/30 and Jyväskylä 10/31. More details about the locations and time schedule can be found from Microsoft Finland’s Technet Blog article.

Microsoft’s Mr. Juha Karppinen opens the event with a presentation on Microsoft CloudOS followed with Mr. Antti Alila and Mr. Timo Salminen on Windows Server, Hyper-V and Microsoft VDI. Guys do also have couple of great demos of Windows Azure Multi-Factor authentication and Windows 8.1 Workplace Join and they even managed to show a demo in which an iPad (first time ever?) was used to access data at the workplace using Workplace Join and Windows Azure Multi-Factor authentication.

After a break Neoxen Oy‘s Esa Tervo gave a presentation of Windows Azure IaaS and how Neoxen has implemented Sharepoint sites on Azure Iaas and Mr. Kalle Rissanen from ArrowECS explained how to benefit from Veeam’s products on managing Hyper-V and VMware backups.

On the tour, Onrego’s presentation is about implementing self-service and automation using System Center Service Manager and System Center Orchestrator with half a dozen case examples of what Onrego has already implemented to its customers both as a cloud service (Onrego Online System Center) and as on-premises.

Also to Start Distributing Onrego Cloud Services

Also Finland and Onrego has signed a contract in which Also starts to distribute Onrego Cloud Services in Finland. Also is the biggest distributor in Finland with 60 % market share and almost 2 000 active resellers over the country. Onrego’s Cloud Services are now available as well as for resellers but also for Managed Service Providers (MSP’s).

Also and Onrego has released a Press Release (in Finnish) about the contract between the two companies. Also starts to distribute Onrego Cloud Services to its Finnish resellers and MSP’s. For Also, this means a new add-on to Also Cloud concept and to Onrego, ability to reach large number of potential resellers and MPS’s.

As for the start-up of Also’s and Onrego’s cooperation, I had a chance to shake hand with Also Finland’s Managing Director Mrs. Mervi Airaksinen!

Also Onrego Deal

What does this mean to resellers and Managed Service Providers?

Most of the information for the resellers and MSP’s can be found from Also Cloud website, but I want to write down couple of reasons why Also’s almost 2000 resellers and MSP’s will benefit from the cooperation.

We have been seeing movement towards cloud services lately. Many corporations has been telling us that they are planning on moving everything to the cloud. And they mean everything from Active Directory to management tools. Another ones are telling us that they are expecting that most of their datacenter virtual machine workloads will be moved to hosters and IaaS providers in a near future.

In the mean time, governments of USA, UK, Australia and EU are driving Cloud First policies to accelerate cloud adoption.

For resellers, to be able to get Onrego Cloud Services through Also Finland, means that they can deliver Microsoft System Center products faster and more agile than ever before. It also means that resellers can benefit from the business model of cloud service. That means continuous monthly revenue.

We have been talking to number of Managed Service Providers too and we have seen a trend. A trend in which MSP’s no longer want to implement new tools (such as management ones) and spend lots of euros in investments, that has a flat payback time.

Managed Service Providers can benefit from Onrego’s Online System Center in their service production and stop spending valuable time in developing and maintaining tools for workstation management, server and service monitoring and service management.

Please learn more about the offering for resellers and Managed Service Providers from the Also Cloud website.

Onrego Ltd has been approved to Microsoft System Center Alliance, a global ecosystem around Microsoft System Center products – the first one from Finland! Onrego is now part of the same ecosystem as are HPCitrix, F5 Networks, Secunia, EMC, just to name a few!

I’m glad to announce the following news! Onrego Ltd has been approved to Microsoft System Center Alliance, a global ecosystem of companies that work very close with Microsoft System Center and build solutions for System Center products. Onrego’s Online System Center, a cloud based System Center service is also the first member of Microsoft System Center Alliance from Finland.

Onrego and Online System Center has a solution page that describes what Onrego is and what Online System Center is all about. Here is a nice screenshot of the page:

The Private Cloud Immersion Tour

Onrego and Microsoft put together a roadtrip in Finland. We wanted to let everyone know about Private Cloud and Microsoft System Center, the possibilities of them and how they would benefit organisations.

The tour was branded as “Datacenters without borders”. The sessions were based on Microsoft Private Cloud Immersion (PCI) concept, which is like a backstage of Customer Immersion Experience (CIE), a concept to experience new collaboration technologies such as Microsoft Lync and Microsoft Sharepoint.

PCI1

Our tour started from Lahti, went through Oulu, Tampere, Kuopio and Turku, and finally ended to Vaasa yesterday. We were able to gather tens of people to listen and experience new possibilities of modern datacenter management. We talked about the key drivers of Private Cloud, how to benefit from Microsoft Azure IaaS, how to implement modern datacenter management and Private Cloud using Microsoft technologies and also about the latest possibilities with self service and orchestration.

While Onrego’s Pekka Onnela kept most of the sessions, I had a pleasure to visit Kuopio and have a great time there with an excellent audience. But I didn’t have a change to taste kalakukko due to a tight schedule though.

I’m already looking for the next tour with Microsoft and in the mean time, if someone is interested about modern datacenter management and benefits of Private Cloud using Microsoft technologies, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Next a couple of nice pictures of Onrego’s Pekka doing his thang.

Express Yourself!

It was only a three months ago when I went to National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland to established our company Onrego Ltd. So far we have had over 100 meetings with clients and partners and have had great discussions with them.

Couple of days ago Finnish IT journal Tietoviikko (tivi.fi) referred to an article from Computerworld concerning how rewarding it is to work with startup companies for IT executives in corporates. In the article Computerworld’s Johanna Ambrosio writes as:

IT leaders said the biggest benefit of working with startups is access to
leading-edge technology that solves their business problems more quickly than
they could by building something internally.

Even I wouldn’t have said that any better! I have had over 60 meetings with clients and partners expressing myself and together Onrego have had way over 100 meetings since August 2012. We have been presenting our ideas of modern IT infrastructure to our clients and have had great discussions and feedback. In fact, our first cloud service is going to go public within the next few weeks and on next Monday; we are having the first Proof of Concept with our client. We have also been gathering great partners to our ecosystem, which we are going launch a little bit later.

It has been fun to acknowledge that many other friends and partners are also expressing themselves and turned into entrepreneurs. The last one is upcoming consulting company focusing on cloud technologies called Cloud 1 Oy by MVP Harri Puupponen. Besides meetings I have been expressing myself with other duties that the CEO of young startup can have, such as developing a portal for our cloud services and buying espresso from Stockmann for the employees.

While buying espresso does not require any special skills, I have had a change to do some serious multitasking with my partners at Onrego and to seek my limits especially with my developing skills. I need to remind that I have been World Champion of Scripting two times a row, but still doing stuff with Visual Studio 2012, ASP.NET MVC4 and Microsoft System Center Orchestrator 2012 is something I didn’t know I was capable of. But with enormous self-confidence I was managed to develop a great portal for our clients. I can say I have been expressing myself big time lately :).

A good friend of mine is a lecturer in a senior high school. He asked me if I want to do a presentation for his class about entrepreneurship. At first I was like, “yeah, why not”, but more I have been thinking about it, more thrilled about it I have got. I just can’t wait to be able to get up and speak about entrepreneurship and the ability to express yourself. As we are expressing ourselves at Onrego, as our partners are expressing themselves, and as our clients will be expressing themselves with a little help from us.

New Partners Revealed, Part II

We are living exciting times. A couple of weeks ago I just presented a new partner, and now I’m proud to present new partners again. You read it right. Partners in prural, not a partner. Mr. Kenneth Haapala and Mr. Antti Arponen have decided to join our startup. Kenneth Haapala has made a very long and respectable career within sales and marketing. Kenneth will focus on sales as well as on customer relations.
