On last week’s Friday, Microsoft released R2 versions of Windows Server 2012 and System Center 2012. While most of the IT pros around world started to downloadthe bits, we packed our packs and headed to a tour around Finland to talk about the new features and possibilities Windows Server, Hyper-V, System Center and Windows Azure to hundreads of Finnish IT pros and business leaders.

Microsoft Technet Tour 2013

The tour stops at the following cities: Vaasa 10/22, Oulu 10/23, Lappeenranta 10/29, Kuopio 10/30 and Jyväskylä 10/31. More details about the locations and time schedule can be found from Microsoft Finland’s Technet Blog article.

Microsoft’s Mr. Juha Karppinen opens the event with a presentation on Microsoft CloudOS followed with Mr. Antti Alila and Mr. Timo Salminen on Windows Server, Hyper-V and Microsoft VDI. Guys do also have couple of great demos of Windows Azure Multi-Factor authentication and Windows 8.1 Workplace Join and they even managed to show a demo in which an iPad (first time ever?) was used to access data at the workplace using Workplace Join and Windows Azure Multi-Factor authentication.

After a break Neoxen Oy‘s Esa Tervo gave a presentation of Windows Azure IaaS and how Neoxen has implemented Sharepoint sites on Azure Iaas and Mr. Kalle Rissanen from ArrowECS explained how to benefit from Veeam’s products on managing Hyper-V and VMware backups.

Greetings from ALSO Expo

Onrego attended ALSO Expo in Finland couple of weeks ago and made dozens of new contacts. Let’s summarize the expo with a few pics.

ALSO Finland, the biggest distributor in Finland, had it’s traditional ALSO Expo on October 10, 2013 in Tampere, Finland. Because the target audience for the expo was Finnish IT resellers and Managed Service Providers, Onrego attended the expo with it’s own booth. We made dozens of new contacts with meeting requests so I’d say the event was very successful for us.

Onrego Booth at Also Expo

There was also a couple of presentations and one of them was by Jukka Kortesniemi from ALSO. Jukka had a presentation concerning cloud services and what to expect from them in a near future.

Also Expo

Onrego had also a chance to attend Microsoft’s own pre-party at Klubi before ALSO’s own party after the expo. I’m very grateful to Mr. Jarkko Lainio from Microsoft Finland as he invited me to join him on the stage with Microsoft’s Mr. Markku Pulkkinen and Mr. Lasse Gerdt and to talk about Onrego and Onrego Online System Center and how Onrego benefits from being a Microsoft Gold Partner.

Also Expo

Finally, Also Expo ended with a much expected party with food and beverige. Evening’s special guest star was Jenni Vartiainen, the most popular female artist in Finland at the moment. What a great event!

So far we have witnessed ramp-ups of collaborative cloud services, such as Microsoft Office 365 and business apps and services translating into SaaS. But what we haven’t yet seen is the movement of IT infrastructure to the cloud. There are Microsoft’s CloudOS vision and Cloud First acts driving us to cloud services. We have talked to a large number of corporations and Managed Service Providers and the trend is clear: IT infrastructure is moving to cloud.

Now, Onrego is concentrating on cloud services that benefits end customers as well as resellers and Managed Service Providers. During this fall we are having a number of seminars and webinars where we are presenting our cloud services and the movement we are about to witness in a near future.

Service Monitoring and ITSM Breakfast Seminar @ Microsoft

Our company Onrego kept a breakfast seminar yesterday together with Microsoft and Service-Flow Corporation. The focus was on Onrego Online System Center Operations Manager, how companies can benefit from it as an instant ready to use service monitoring system and on Service-Flow Corporation’s ITSM integration between numerous ITSM systems and Onrego Online System Center Service Manager. Let me summarize the event to you.

Onrego Breakfast Seminar

In my previous blog post, I wrote datacenter workloads are moving from organization’s datacenters to hosters and to IaaS cloud service providers. Couple of other trends we have seen within a year are: (1) companies does not have intelligent service (and server) monitoring systems and (2) companies are interested in owning their ITSM data rather than letting their MSP to own it because problems might arise when MSP is changed. Trend #2 also includes a note: many companies are interested in Microsoft System Center Service Manager as of ITSM system.

With these trends in mind and because our company Onrego do have quick and cost effective solutions for these trends (the answer is www.onlinesystemcenter.com by the way), we wanted to get together bunch of great people (read: customers) and have a breakfast seminar to cover these trends.

The breakfast seminar took place at Microsoft Finland, and started with a great keynote from Microsoft’s Juha Karppinen, Server & Tools Business Group Lead.

Juha talked about Cloud OS and Windows Server & System Center.

Juha’s presentations was followed by Onrego’s Pekka Onnela.

Pekka told us about cloud based System Center Operation Manager made available by Onrego and had couple of crazy demos of Onrego Dashboard, a browser based GUI to Service Monitoring via Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and Global Service Monitoring, a feature that lets you monitor your websites from all over the world.

After a quick pause, our partner, Service-Flow Corporation had their turn and Juha Berghäll and Kai Virkki entered the stage.

They gave couple of very nice demos how their cloud based ITSM Integration Service, which allows customers to use Onrego’s Online System Center Service Manager as their primary ITSM system, and automatically translate communication (such as tickets) to their MSP’s ITSM system. Service-Flow has done amazing job, since their online integration service handles ITSM systems such as ServiceNow, Efecte, BMC, Zendesk, and of course Microsoft System Center Service Manager. Service-Flow actually has online integrations to the largest Finnish MSP’s (CGI, Fujitsu, Atos and Tieto).

This means that when organizations want to have an online cloud based ITSM system (and they really do), they don’t need to take ServiceNow anymore. They can continue to use familiar Microsoft products because of Onrego’s Online System Center. And no matter if their MSP uses ServiceNow or BMC etc., integrations have already been made thanks to Service-Flow!

Onrego’s VP Kimmo Vesajoki ended the seminar and wished great summer time to attendees.

Thank you all the speakers and attendees!

The Week in Cloud

Last week was definitely The (Unofficial) Week in Cloud in Finland. I’m saying this because of first the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications published Finnish Cloud Services Landscape and then Finnish IT-journal “Tietokone” published an article of how to migrate your business IT to the cloud.

The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications published a great publication of cloud services in April 2013. The publication is titled as “Finnish Cloud Services Landscape“.

LVMCloud

The publication has a great review of what cloud services are, what are the pros and cons of them and how the market will grow in the future (+40% 2012 – 2014). I encourage everyone to read the paper. Unfortunately it’s been written in Finnish.

Another publication published in April 2013 was “How to migrate your business IT to the cloud” written by Ari Saarelainen in Finnish IT-journal Tietokone.

TietokoneLehtiKansi

Our company Onrego Ltd and our cloud service Online System Center, was well featured in the article among with Nervogrid, another hot Finnish cloud company. TietokoneLehtiOnrego1 Oh, and there were also couple of minor cloud service companies such as Microsoft, Google, HP and IBM. 🙂

Now Onrego’s Cloud Has a Gold Lining!

Six months ago I wrote Onrego’s cloud has a silver lining. Today I announce our cloud has a gold lining. It is about Microsoft Partner Program!

Again I have excellent news to share! Onrego has gained Gold status in Microsoft Partner Program in Management and Virtualization competency. Gold is the highest level in the program.

Gold Management and Virtualization competency means Onrego is one of the best advisors for customers in Microsoft management and virtualization solutions, such as in Microsoft System Center, Hyper-V and Windows Server. Gold level in Microsoft Partner Program is also our commitment to Microsoft and to Microsoft technologies.

MicrosoftGoldMV

Once again I want to thank our clients, Microsoft and the Onrego team! It’s a Bollinger time!

Onrego Has a New HQ!

Onrego HQ made a movement on Weekend. We moved to a much bigger office with a much broader view to Microsoft and to sea. Let’s take a look!

I have great news to share! Onrego has moved! While our address (Keilaranta 4, Espoo, Finland) remains the same, we have almost quadrupled our space! When we started on August 2012, I wrote a post about our new office with a sea view and a location right next to Microsoft, Angry Birds and Nokia, just to name a few.

Here’s a couple of pictures of our new office:

The Private Cloud Immersion Tour

Onrego and Microsoft put together a roadtrip in Finland. We wanted to let everyone know about Private Cloud and Microsoft System Center, the possibilities of them and how they would benefit organisations.

The tour was branded as “Datacenters without borders”. The sessions were based on Microsoft Private Cloud Immersion (PCI) concept, which is like a backstage of Customer Immersion Experience (CIE), a concept to experience new collaboration technologies such as Microsoft Lync and Microsoft Sharepoint.

PCI1

Our tour started from Lahti, went through Oulu, Tampere, Kuopio and Turku, and finally ended to Vaasa yesterday. We were able to gather tens of people to listen and experience new possibilities of modern datacenter management. We talked about the key drivers of Private Cloud, how to benefit from Microsoft Azure IaaS, how to implement modern datacenter management and Private Cloud using Microsoft technologies and also about the latest possibilities with self service and orchestration.

While Onrego’s Pekka Onnela kept most of the sessions, I had a pleasure to visit Kuopio and have a great time there with an excellent audience. But I didn’t have a change to taste kalakukko due to a tight schedule though.

I’m already looking for the next tour with Microsoft and in the mean time, if someone is interested about modern datacenter management and benefits of Private Cloud using Microsoft technologies, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Next a couple of nice pictures of Onrego’s Pekka doing his thang.

Congratulations Jyväskylä – Onrego To Expand Its Area of Influence!

Congratulations Jyväskylä! Congratulations Keski-Suomen lääni! Congratulations Harjun torni! Onrego is expanding to Jyväskylä with a brand new branch office. With a lake-view this time.

A month ago we opened our first office in Espoo, Keilaniemi, right next to Angry Birds, Microsoft and Nokia. Today we open our next branch office to Jyväskylä City. Jyväskylä is a virile student city located right in the middle of Finland. There are a little bit over 130 000 residents living within the city limits. Jyväskylä is famous of its rally “Rally of the Thousand Lakes“, which is nowadays called “Neste Oil Rally Finland“, and today, of course of its Onrego Branch Office!

While our headquarter is located by the sea in Keilaniemi, Espoo, our Jyväskylä branch is located by lake Jyväsjärvi with a walking distance to city center.

But one question remains. Are there any employees working in the branch? Hmm… let’s dig into that in the next post.
