First Week behind – Many More To Go

It’s the end of Onrego’s first official week. It has been a very busy but very interesting week. There is a tiny-winy problem though. When I have left our HQ at afternoons, I have already started to count hours how long will it take to be able to get back to the office. Making buziness can be such a fun and interesting!

We haven’t released any of the cloud services in our roadmap yet. We are planning on releasing the first one in September, but still I’m very happy what we have accomplished so far. The company has been alive only one month so far, but  I have been able to gather great partners in July, and within the first week, we have published the first version of our website, ordered nice business card and got great t-shirts to wear.

The Office And a Sea View

Can the office of just established startup company be located in Keilaniemi, Espoo, Finland, right next to Microsoft, Nokia and Angry Birds, just to name a few? Can the office have a sea view? Yes! The location of our office is a statement. It is a statement to us, to our clients and to our partners.

At first we were not planning on renting an office. The reason was to save some cash. But more we thought about it, renting an own office started to make lots of sense. In the startup phase spending time together is very valuable since we are able to innovate and make decisions fast.

The Name Of the Game

In the last article I revealed new partners joining our startup. Today it’s time to publish our website, and the name of our company of course.

Our startup is called Onrego Ltd, in which “On” means online and availability and “rego” comes from Latin and means “I administer”. We are about to develop exciting cloud services, which we are going to publish in public in a near future. Our website is also up and running, which you can check out on www.onrego.fi.

Wow… Did I just establish a new company – in an old fashioned way?

It’s rather easy to establish a new company in Finland nowadays, but I wanted to do it in an old fashioned way and do all the necessary paperwork. Was I successful in establishing the company and did I celebrate it in appropriate ceremonies? Yes, yes.

In Finland we have a wonderful website for startups – perustayritys.fi. It’s a website in which you can establish a new company online. Just click next, next, next and soon you’re finished without any paperwork. Sounds attractive? Not to me. I wanted to do this in an old fashioned way.

Startups and entrepreneurship

It’s been 10 years from my first startup and now I’m ready to do it again. No matter what I’ll do, I have promised to myself that I’m going to rock the world!

It was precisely 10 years ago when I started my first startup, and yet the only one. No one called just established companies as startups at that time, though. Now after 10 years, I’m ready to do it again.

Microsoft made a statement at TechEd 2012 conference in Orlando. It’s now the Era of the Cloud Operating System. What this means? Let’s check out!

Today, Microsoft’s TechEd 2012 conference in Orlando was in its halfway. The opening keynote held by Microsoft’s Server and Tools Business Group president Satya Nadella a couple of days ago started a little storm within (social) media. Every tweet, blog and news article shouted out loud that it’s the Era of the Cloud O(perating) S(ystem)!

New Release Candidates – Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8

If you googled and ended up to this page, no this page is not about RTM’s of Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8. This is about RC’s, as there are other pages about beta’s and beta2’s and there will be about RC2’s. Hold on, RTM’s are coming in the future.

Microsoft has just released the Release Candidates of the upcoming Windows Server 2011 and Windows 8. This means that the products are soon ready to be released for the manufacturing.

For IT pro’s, next season is going to get pretty busy because of the new server and workstation releases but also because the next generation of communication products such as Exchange and Sharepoint are next to be rolled out of factory. Including the System Center product line and the Private Cloud concept, there will be hectic times. This, of course, means that customers must be willing to buy these new products and their new features.
